The Coastline

There is a huge choice of beaches in County Wexford, often virtually deserted, even in high season. They vary in character from vast expanses of golden sand (Duncannon Strand) through rocky bays (Carnivan Bay and Booley Bay) to mile upon mile of strand at Curracloe - where the beach landing scenes were shot for the film "Saving Private Ryan

  • Horse Riding. There are several stables with facilities and mounts to suit all ages and abilities.
    Golf. Ireland offers unbeatable golfing facilities. There are several courses within an easy drive. Click here to check out golf courses in Wexford
    Fishing. The sea fishing is second to none. Boats can be hired at several locations. There are plentiful opportunities for game and coarse fishing as well.
    Beach Activities Duncannon strand (our local beach) has safe swimming, windsurfing, and kite surfing.
    Tennis There is an excellent hard court just south of Duncannon. It is free to use. We have tennis rackets and balls at the house.

Cycling. This is ideal cycling country - networked by quiet country lanes. We have two adult mountain bikes for the use of our guests. The discoverireland web site has pages on cycling.
The Shielbaggan Outdoor Centre in Ramsgrange offers facilities for sailing, canoeing etc. Click here for their web site.

Walking. Gorgeous walking along the coast, in the countryside and in the Blackstairs Mountains. Our favourite walks include the towpath along the River Barrow in stunning scenery from St. Mullins to Graigenamanagh ,and  the Mahon Falls in the Comeragh Mountains to the west of Waterford
The Knockmealdown mountains offer more specialised hiking for the physically fit. .
The Slieve Bloom mountains are about two hours drive away.
